Previously, we introduced a new MSI KVM feature when releasing the MPG321UR-QD. It allows us to use a controller to control OSD functions. We called it MSI KVM3.0.

We already understand the basic functions of KVM1.0, which allows us to use one set of keyboards and a mouse to control 2 setups. In the 2.0 version that we can even transfer profiles via KVM.

Nowadays, to deal with a lot of works, people usually own a laptop and a desktop. The lighter laptop is more portable. After getting back home, we use desktops to satisfy our entertainment needs. When we have to use a laptop and desktop at the same time, KVM allows us to use one keyboard and mouse on two devices. Sometimes we need to transfer profiles between two devices. The MAG281URF can help us solve this situation. With KVM2.0, we can transfer profiles easily and make our work more efficient and productive.

How to use MSI KVM2.0? Please follow the step by step toturial below.

MSI KVM 2.0

1. To use KVM, please connect a Type B cable to the monitor and the other device.

2. Connect keyboard and mouse to monitor with USB Type-A.

3. Connect Type C to another device (Please make sure your device supports both USB signal and DP alt signal, such as MSI Summit E16 Flip Evo).

4. To transfer data/files, we need to select the PBP mode(Picture by Picture). You can also find the PBP in the monitor’s OSD menu.

5. Once we selected the PBP mode, the system will pop up KVMLink automatically as shown below.

select the PBP mode

Please click KVMLink, and click autorun to install the application on both devices.

Please click KVMLink

Once the installation is finished, it will show the icon below which means your mouse can directly move between 2 displays and transfer files.

Finished above setting, KVM2.0 is ready to use

After finishing all these steps, MSI KVM2.0 is ready to use.

Look at your monitor's OSD menu where you can find the KVM function. We provide different modes for different scenarios (Please check appendix 1).

Appendix 1:

Auto: The USB signal follows the monitor input source (Note: Type B will follow DP, HDMI, and Type C will follow itself if your device supports DP alt signal output.)

Upstream: Fixed USB signal to Type B cable connecting device.

Type C: Fixed USB signal to Type C connecting device.
