AMD always takes care of gamers’ demands, which is why most console systems use AMD GPU for better performance. Recently, AMD released several new functions for game performance improvements, such as AMD Radeon Super Resolution, FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0, and AMD Smart Access Memory. Additionally, AMD Link lets users enjoy playing games anywhere through streaming technology. In this article, we will show you how MSI's AMD solutions work and help your games perform better.
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) & AMD Radeon Super Resolution (RSR)
Nowadays, games often have heavy loading due to higher definition image display. Games are made to look more realistic and immerive. The FXAA, SMAA, TAA, and TXAA anti-aliasing functions are useful, but AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution and Radeon Super Resolution are even better. You can activate the game integrated AMD FSR function in the games' graphic setting, turning on Quality, Balanced, and Performance mode. Each mode can help improve the game performance depending on how your GPU is doing. Quality Mode is the best at maintaining picture quality and smoothness. Performance Mode helps you gain the most frame rate for a smooth experience.

However, not all games support FSR technology. Therefore, we can use AMD Radeon Super Resolution, RSR as the second solution. Based on the FSR algorithm, it can run the game in lower resolution and upscale image quality without FSR integration. In other words, it's the perfect time to purchase a 4K monitor. Thanks to AMD technology, we can play games in a lower resolution for a better frame rate while having great image quality.
Warframe in native 4K resolution is 108 FPS, but we can get 185 FPS in 1440P without losing image quality.
RSR function needs to be enabled at AMD Adrenalin software. Select the “Graphics” page and switch on RSR in the yellow frame. Then you will see the “Upscale Status” and see which resolution upscales to the monitor's maximum resolution.

AMD Smart Access Memory
Now on AMD Smart Access Memory. Traditionally, the CPU gets VRAM from GPU by PCH limitation when the game is running. That’s why loading and video processing take a longer time. Through AMD Smart Access Memory Technology, CPU can get VRAM directly to GPU without obstacles and provide more resources for game performance.
AMD Smart Access Memory Concept
To enable the AMD Smart Access Memory function, we need to boot into the BIOS page. Go to Settings -> Advanced -> PCIe/ PCI Subsystem Settings. Then enable “Re-Size BAR Support” and “Above 4G memory/Crypto Currency mining”. After that, save the setting and restart the PC.
In MSI BIOS, Enable Re-Size BAR Support will automatically enable above 4G memory, so you don’t need to enable it twice. Then press the F10 Key to save the setting and reset the PC.

Maximum Game Performance (AMD SAM + RSR)
To maximize game performance, MSI's AMD solution can activate both SAM & RSR at the same time. Here is the performance table we tested for your reference. We suggest choosing 1440P and then upscaling to 2160P for better performance and image quality.
AMD Link – Game Streaming (Play seamlessly and continue your game progress)
Like cloud gaming, Game Streaming is becoming more popular in recent years. Cloud games allow you to game anywhere, but most of them require a subscription service. AMD Link offers the function without a subscription and can transform your desktop into a cloud game server. It allows you to stream the game to your devices anytime and anywhere to continue your game progress. You can also play with your friends or family through the AMD Link. If you want to play on a bigger screen, you can easily stream the game to the TV without moving your desktop to the living room.
