Windows 11 with the version prior to 24H2 originally supports the AC-3 codec, which is known as Dolby Digital by default. However, starting with Windows 11, version 24H2, Microsoft states that the AC-3 decoder is no longer included in the operating system.

Nevertheless, for MSI laptops with preinstalled Windows 11 24H2, the AC-3 coder will still be supported on the preinstalled Windows system. 

For laptops without preinstalled Windows or have wiped the original system and performed a clean installation of Windows 11 24H2 system, users are suggested to manually download a 3rd party media player, such as KMPlayer or VSO Media Player, to support the .ac3 file.
