When experiencing audio crackling, stuttering, or distorted sound while playing videos, music, or during calls, follow the troubleshooting steps below one by one until the audio problem is resolved.

Update or reinstall your audio driver

Turn off Windows Audio Enhancements

  • Right-click the speaker icon → [Sound Settings] → Playback device → [Properties] → Disable “Audio Enhancements”

Disable browser hardware acceleration

  • Browser Settings → System → Turn off “Use hardware acceleration when available”

 Adjust power settings

  • Control Panel → Power Options → Advanced settings → PCI Express → Link State Power Management → Set to “Off”

Check Windows Update

  • Ensure the latest updates are installed

  • If the problem started after an update, try rolling back to a previous version

Cross-check with different audio devices

  • Use different audio output devices such as built-in speakers, headphones, Bluetooth, or a USB headset to perform a cross-validation test and confirm whether the issue is specifically linked to one device or all audio outputs.
