When software-based encryption, such as BitLocker or Device Encryption, is enabled in Windows in order to improve data security, as a trade-off, the encryption and decryption processes may cause additional CPU workload, increase latency, and slow down the SSD performance.



The phenomenon may be more noticeable during random write and read processes, such as launching a program or loading a game.
