[How to] Restore to factory settings (Factory Recovery)
Answer
Please refer to the following content on how to restore an MSI notebook to its factory default settings using the built-in F3 Recovery function
Note:
- This method applies only to models running the original MSI factory image. It will not function if the OS has been reinstalled or disk partitions have been modified. If your recovery partition is damaged or removed, please contact your nearest MSI Service Center for factory system restoration.
- The hard drive will be formatted during the recovery process. Please back up your personal data before proceeding.
- Do not perform any other operations or disconnect the power during the recovery process.
1. Connect the power adapter and press the power button to turn on the computer. When the MSI logo appears, repeatedly press the F3 key to enter the system recovery screen.
Note:
- Make sure the power adapter is connected. The system checks the power status before starting the recovery process; if the adapter is not connected, the recovery process cannot continue.
- The MSI boot logo may vary by model.

2. On the following screen, select “Troubleshoot” to proceed.

3. Select “Restore MSI factory settings” to proceed.

4. Select “Skip this drive” to proceed.

5. Select “System Partition Recovery” to proceed.

6. The system will prompt that all files and settings will be reset. If you have backed up your personal data, click “Yes” to proceed.

7. The system will ask for confirmation again. Click “Yes” to continue.

8. The system will begin the recovery process and display an elapsed-time screen. Please wait patiently and do not perform any other operations or disconnect the power during this time.

9. Once the recovery is complete, click “OK.”

10. Select “Continue.” The system will exit and restart. After restarting, the system will have successfully returned to its factory default state.
