This guide shows how to completely uninstall NVIDIA graphics driver from the system without leaving old files and settings, and install the latest version via MSI website.



Update the NVIDIA Graphics driver by following steps below to ensure the best user experience.



In certain situation, the files may not be completely deleted; refer to [Part II: Advanced Driver Clean Installation - DDU Tool] steps to remove by using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU).



 



[Part I: Driver Clean Installation]



A. Download Nvidia driver from MSI website support page by searching your model, select "Driver" and choose "Graphics" tab.



B. Download "NVIDIA Graphics Driver" and extract the files to the desktop.



    



    *Note: Please make sure to disconnect the Internet before installing NVIDIA Graphics driver.



C. Get into the folder of the graphics driver.



    



D. Double click "setup" to start installing Nvidia graphics driver.



    



E. Click "Agree And Continue".



    



F. Select "Custom (Advanced)" and click "Next".  



    



G. Tick "Perform a clean installation" and click "Next" to start installation.



     



H. Once the installation process finish, click "Close" to complete Nvidia Graphics driver update.



    



I. Search "Device Manager", find "Display adapters" and click "NVIDIA GeForce Laptop GPU Properties" to make sure the update is completed.



    



 



 



[Part II: Advanced Driver Clean Installation - DDU Tool]



*Before Starting, please download and save the DDU file and the corresponding NVIDIA graphics driver.



  (The DDU download link may change without notice, visit Guru3d.com and look for Display Driver Uninstaller)



*Disconnect to the network by removing the LAN cable, or disable the wireless connection.



*Multiple system reboot might be required, please keep the power plugged during the whole update process.



 



A. Uninstall Current Driver



1. Remove the driver by using "DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)".



    I. Perform DDU in "Safe Mode".



    II. The DDU control panel will shows up automatically after system boot into Safe mode. 



    III. Select "Remove PhysX" under Options.



    IV. Make sure to select the NVIDIA GPU, and click “Clean and restart” to uninstall the driver. (System will reboot automatically after the DDU is finished.)

    V. The NVIDIA display adapter should be “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter” in Device Manager since the driver has been removed.



 



B. Install & Update NVIDIA Driver



1. Download "Nvidia Graphics Driver" from MSI website support page by searching your model, select "Driver" and choose "Graphics" tab.



2. Extract the file and double click on "setup" to start the installer.



3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the driver install process.
