Integrating Recycled Materials and Low-Carbon Manufacturing to Pass Over 80 Rigorous New Standard Assessments

EPEAT 2.0

MSI, a global leader in gaming, AI PC, and high-performance computing, proudly announces its standing as one of the world’s first brands to become an EPEAT 2.0 Launch Partner. This milestone underscores MSI’s core commitment to sustainability within the IT industry, advancing its goals in environmental protection and corporate social responsibility (CSR). In a concrete execution of this commitment, the MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Evo A2VMG business laptop has officially achieved EPEAT 2.0 Silver certification on June 20, 2026, after successfully passing the comprehensive new EPEAT 2.0 evaluation comprising over 80 criteria across four major sustainability pillars.

"As the industry transitions from a computing power arms race to the widespread deployment of Agentic AI, the value of technology is no longer measured solely by performance, but by how it coexists with the environment," said Wilson Tsai, Vice President of MSI's Global Management Center. "Becoming one of the world's first EPEAT 2.0 Launch Partners signifies not only a breakthrough in our green R&D for edge devices, but also our long-term commitment to the global value chain. Moving forward, anchored by our SBTi-validated carbon reduction targets, we will integrate these new international environmental standards into the core DNA of our procurement and supply chain management. Together with our upstream and downstream partners, we aim to transition steadily, driving intelligent upgrades while co-creating a responsible, sustainable future."

EPEAT 2.0 Launch Partner: Advancing Environmental Commitments

Managed by the Global Electronics Council (GEC), the EPEAT ecolabel is one of the world’s most authoritative environmental assessment tools for electronic products. The new EPEAT 2.0 standards address four critical pillars: Climate Change Mitigation, Sustainable Use of Resources, Reduction of Chemicals of Concern, and Responsible Supply Chains.

As an EPEAT 2.0 Launch Partner, MSI goes beyond mere compliance to actively align with the latest global environmental standards. In addition to embedding EPEAT 2.0’s four sustainability principles into its products, MSI is deepening collaboration across its supply chain. By advancing circular design, implementing safer chemical alternatives, and enforcing supply chain social responsibility, MSI is steadily delivering on its environmental and corporate citizenship commitments.

Compliance with EPEAT 2.0: The Green Practices of the Prestige 13 AI+ Evo

To secure EPEAT 2.0 Silver certification, products must provide robust data and evidence verifying their product carbon footprint, energy efficiency, and supply chain transparency. The design and production of the Prestige 13 AI+ Evo A2VMG represents a holistic integration of the four sustainability pillars into the product development lifecycle:

  • Climate Change Mitigation (CCM) in Action: The laptop integrates highly energy-efficient processors and battery configurations. Optimized through hardware and software power management, the device meets and exceeds ENERGY STAR Typical Electricity Consumption (TEC) limits, effectively reducing energy consumption during the user phase. Production processes are also monitored and controlled to minimize the product carbon footprint at the initial stages of its lifecycle.
  • Circular Design for Sustainable Use of Resources (SUR): Utilizing Advanced Thixomolding Technology (ATT) for its semi-solid injection molding chassis, the laptop maintains an ultra-lightweight profile of just 0.99kg. This process effectively reduces material waste and processing energy consumption at the manufacturing source. Furthermore, MSI has increased the proportion of Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) plastics in the material selection and partnered with FSC-certified suppliers to ensure responsible sourcing for packaging materials.
  • Reduction of Chemicals of Concern (COC) and Safety Assurances: While pursuing a 0.99kg lightweight design with specialized magnesium-aluminum alloy, MSI carefully evaluates all material choices and surface coatings. Components and manufacturing processes comply with strict EPEAT restrictions on chemicals of concern, implementing safe chemical alternatives to ensure environmental and user safety.
  • Extending Value through Responsible Supply Chains (RSC): MSI continues to deepen cooperation with suppliers of critical components, including the magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis and high-capacity battery packs. Management practices cover labor rights, occupational health and safety, and responsible mineral sourcing to ensure the value chain meets EPEAT’s stringent social responsibility standards.

Partnering Across the Value Chain for Transparent and Responsible Supply Chains

Sustainable transformation cannot be achieved by a single enterprise; supply chain engagement is critical. International mandates from EPEAT 2.0 regarding "Responsible Supply Chains" have been extended into MSI's overall procurement and supplier management strategies. By establishing a standardized Supplier Code of Conduct, MSI conducts regular audits and risk assessments regarding labor rights, occupational health and safety, and environmental protection for key suppliers.

To guarantee the legitimacy of raw material sourcing, MSI enforces strict due diligence for responsible mineral procurement. Suppliers are required to source minerals such as tantalum, tin, tungsten, gold (3TG), and cobalt exclusively from third-party verified conflict-free smelters. Through continuous engagement and communication mechanisms, MSI drives ESG performance across its supply chain, elevating a single product’s green standards into an industry-wide sustainable practice.

Grounded in SBTi Scientific Targets, Moving Toward 2050 Net-Zero

To address climate change mitigation, the new EPEAT 2.0 standards set explicit thresholds for greenhouse gas reductions and renewable energy use, requiring enterprises to provide science-based product lifecycle carbon reduction data and milestone targets.

The successful certification of the Prestige 13 AI+ Evo A2VMG is anchored in MSI’s overarching climate strategy. MSI's carbon reduction pathway has been officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), with a commitment to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 80% by the end of 2035, alongside absolute reduction targets for Scope 3, charting a steady course toward 2050 Net-Zero. Looking ahead, MSI will expand its lineup of EPEAT 2.0 certified products, working alongside value chain partners to co-create a sustainable future.
