[How To] Set Up BIOS Lock in BIOS

To secure system data, MSI provides different security locks in the BIOS, such as BIOS lock and TCG lock, and this chapter will introduce the BIOS lock. For information of the TCG lock, please refer to FAQ-11252.
BIOS Lock prevents unauthorized users from accessing or modifying BIOS settings, providing an additional layer of security. To set up the BIOS lock, please refer to the steps below:

If the BIOS password is lost or forgotten, users may contact MSI customer support for assistance. However, due to information security and user privacy protection considerations, any password-related assistance will only be provided after the ownership of the device has been properly verified. Users are required to provide relevant documentation to prove that they are the legitimate owner or authorized user of the device. If valid proof of ownership cannot be provided, no password handling or unlocking assistance will be offered.
Set up BIOS Lock:
1. Boot up and press the Delete key when the MSI logo shows up to enter the BIOS menu.
2. Go to Security > Administrator Password or User Password to initiate the BIOS password.
(1) Administrator Password: View and modify BIOS settings.
(2) User Password: View-only access to BIOS settings

3. Press F10 to save the settings
After the settings, a password is required to enter the BIOS menu.
Remove BIOS Lock:
1. Boot up and press the Delete key when the MSI logo shows up to enter the BIOS menu.
2. Go to Security > Administrator Password or User password.
3. Enter the current password
4. At Create New Password, press Enter, and select Yes to remove the password.
