Speaker no sound after Windows Update

After running a windows update, the system updates the Realtek audio driver to version 6.0.9268.1, which may cause the laptop's built-in audio not working while no any speakers or headphones plugged in. If you encounter the above problem, you can solve it by clean install the audio driver.

If you encounter the above problem, you can solve it by clean install the audio drive.



Windows Update

Run Windows Update to update Intel Smart Sound Technology driver to version 10.29.0.6367 and Realtek Audio driver to version 6.0.9268.1.

If the problem still exists after Windows Update, please refer to the following to clean install audio driver.

Uninstall current driver and application

1. Disconnect the network to prevent from Windows Update installing the generic driver automatically.

2. Uninstall Nahimic 3 in Apps & Features

2-1 Open Settings → Apps → Apps & Features → Search Nahimic and click uninstall.

2-2 Restart system.

2-3 Go to C:/ProgramData and look for the “A-Volute” folder and delete it.

Note: It’s a hidden folder, please enable “Hidden items” in the files explorer first


2-4 Uninstall Realtek audio console in Apps & Features

Open Settings → Apps → Apps & Features → Search Realtek audio console and click uninstall.

3. Uninstall Realtek audio driver in Programs & Features

3-1 Open Settings → Apps → Apps & Features → Select Programs & Features → Click“Realtek Audio Driver”and follow the instructions to uninstall it.

3-2 Restart system

3-3 Go to Device Manager and check if Realtek audio driver is completely removed
If the driver is not removed, you will see there is a Realtek Audio device in the “Sound, Video and game controllers” tab.

3-4 If the Realtek audio driver is not removed, please right-click it and select “Uninstall”.

3-5 Select the option “Delete driver software for this device”.

Install the new driver and application

1. Install Realtek audio driver

Run Setup.exe and follow the instructions to install it.

Run Setup.exe and follow the instructions to install it.

3. Restart system
