Why You Should Upgrade PS5 Storage with an M.2 SSD

The PlayStation 5 is an entertainment center that contains games, apps, and many other media content. When game developers focus on higher quality details for screenplay and more complicated storylines, the size of game files are growing larger and larger to compensate for a more immersive experience. That means that a larger storage device boasting high-performing speeds will play a critical role to shortening the long wait times for moving files or loading games.

PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSDs are the solution that can enlarge your storage and match the performance requirements of the PS5.

What You Should Know to Select an Optimal M.2 SSD

To keep up with the requirements of the PS5 and ensure a smooth gaming experience, PlayStation requires a PCIe gen4x4 NVMe M.2 SSD running 5,500 MB/s or faster for the sequential read speed with a capacity range from 250GB up to 4TB. Keeping thermal throttling issues in mind, a cooling solution is recommended to attach onto the M.2 SSD to dissipate heat efficiently while the SSD performs at a high level. An optimal thermal solution can prevent performance loss and damages from overheating and even prolong the longevity of the drive.
